101: Scheduling late demands (with disable option)
Dave Nichols, 31/08/2003
The scheduling system has been modified to behave slightly differently when dealing with late demands.
Previously, the scheduler would delay all kit requirements to match the availability of resources. It did this even if the job was running late due to lack of resources. This meant, for example, purchasing would be delayed if a required resource was not available. This is fine if you actually wait for the resource. But it's not so good if you do something to bring the resource availability forward (and don't tell Match-IT about it). In that context the purchase requirements become too late.
The change to the scheduler is to assume you'll do something ahout late schedules to make them (not so) late. Thus kit is now planned as if the demand is not late, rather than delaying it.
If you want to retain the old scheduling behaviour, then this new behaviour can be turned off by setting the default Do late demand kit ASAP (in the XP class) to NO. It is initially set to YES when you first install build 21.1.43
