133: Using the Match-IT Agent Scheduler
Colin Jenkins, 19/02/2004
Match-IT build 21.1.45 includes a new facility to start the Match-IT Agent at a specified time. By default this time is set to 0100. If this is not consistent with the time that the Agent performs your overnight reschedule, you can specify a different time by editing the value of the AS module default called "Agent auto start time". We recommend that the Agent is started at least half an hour before it starts the reschedule, so that all housekeeping tasks performed by the Agent are completed by the time the reschedule starts.
Please note that the Agent scheduler replaces use of the Windows task scheduler for starting the Agent and any existing tasks for this purpose should be removed.
If you do not wish to use the new facility, please leave the "Install Agent scheduler?" option unchecked when installing Match-IT. However, we recommend you do use it because it is more reliable than the Windows task scheduler when used for the same purpose.
You can check to see if you're running the new Agent scheduler by looking at your process list on the server and checking for a process called "match_sv.exe".
The Agent scheduler is implemented as a Windows service. If you you need to stop the service for any reason, navigate to sys\match_sv.exe (in your Match-IT installation folder) using MyComputer and double-click on it; you will see a number of maintenance options.
