142: Issue and book-in whole items.
Colin Jenkins, 02/06/2004
This is advance notice of a facility that will be available in Match-IT version 21.2.3.
Two new properties have been added to a material profile: Issue whole items when kitting and Book-in whole items.
Examples:-
A bolt weighs 11g per 1 Each and a PART record in a method specifies 10Kg. As it stands, Match-IT will allocate 909.091 Each bolts. By ticking the Issue whole items when kitting property in the profile for the bolt, Match-IT will allocate 910 bolts.
100 2m x 2m sheets are required with a 0.5% reject rate. With the Issue whole items when kitting property ticked Match-IT allocates 101 sheets as opposed to 100.5 sheets.
Booking-in is similar except that quantities are truncated. For example, booking in 10Kg of the above bolts would result in a batch of 909 bolts.
We recommend reviewing each of your profiles. It is likely that you will want to assert these new properties on all profiles except those that represent infinitely divisible materials like fluids.
The calculations assume that 1 of the units of a material reference quantity represent an object. If you book-in without inspecting, the itemised quantity is used automatically for the created batches. If you perform inspections, the itemised quantity is suggested in the inspection record, but can be changed manually before the batches are created.
You can in fact use the facility with fluids. For example you may always want to issue multiples of 1ml to a job. In this case the reference quantity for the material would need to be specified in ml. If you always wanted to issue multiples of 10ml, you would need to create a unit called say dl, where 10ml=1dl and then specify the material reference quantity in dl.
