156: Multiple delilveries and batch numbers
Colin Jenkins, 15/10/2004

This is notice of a new purchasing module (PO) default called ShareBatchNumbers that will be available in Match-IT version 21.2.6. There is no release date for this build yet.

The new default is associated with allocating batch numbers for multiple deliveries associated with the same purchase line; i.e. "multi-drops" or "part-deliveries".

The current behaviour is that batches created from multiple deliveries have the same batch number. It is possible to manually change the batch numbers in the delivery lines before actually booking in the goods, but by default they are all the same.

The factory setting of the new default is Yes, which results in exactly the behaviour described above. So if you are happy to share batch numbers across multiple deliveries, you can ignore this news item.

By changing the value to No the batches associated with the multiple delivery lines are given separate batch numbers.

The table below summarises the two options, each Bx represents a batch number.

DeliveryShareBatchNumbers=YesShareBatchNumbers=No
1B1B1
2B1B2
3B1B3
nB1Bn

It is unlikely that B1, B2, etc will be consecutive numbers.

Prior to booking in the goods, you can still edit the delivery line and change the batch number by hand if you wish; regardles of the value of ShareBatchNumbers.
