165: Build 21.2.7 re-release
Dave Nichols, 12/02/2005

To overcome a security issue in some versions of Windows XP, build 21.2.7 has been re-released.

This new release has changed the way it handles its .INI files. This is because modern versions of Windows are fussy about who can write to such files.

Match-IT now uses the file extension .SET instead of .INI and also the location of the local INI file has moved. The file is now saved in the logged-in user's application data folder instead of the windows system folder.

The global INI file has not moved but its name has changed from match_it.ini to match_it.set. The installation system will rename your existing global file so you do not need to do anything with that.

However, the installation system will not move or rename your local INI file. It cannot because the installation is performed on your server and the local INI files reside on each workstation. This means the first time users run the new version they will be (re-)prompted for some configuration information. All the prompts will have default responses and in most cases users can just accept these. The prompts are:

Set Site and Station
This is Match-IT asking you to identify the station you are running on.
Leave the site at 0.
The station will default to the network name of the workstation. Its recommended you accept that too.

Set File Registry
This is Match-IT asking you to identify where your data resides.
It will default to ...\data\matchzfr.tps
In most cases the default will be correct.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THIS IS CORRECT
Do not proceed unless you are confident this setting is correct. It should be the path to the DATA folder of your Match-IT installation on the server.

Match-IT Login
You will need to enter your ID as well as your password.

You will now be logged-in as usual. Subsequent log-ins will be back to normal.
