190: Match-IT, the NCC and escrow agreements
Dave Nichols, 21/05/2007
Some of you may have been approached by the NCC asking about your interest in joining an Escrow scheme for the Match-IT sources.
This approach was due to a mistake on my part and does not mean we are intending to sell-up or stop supporting the Match-IT software.
Here's the full story of why this happened:
About two years ago one of our clients asked us to setup a formal Escrow agreement because their parent company didn't think our informal offer was adequate. I looked into the costs of doing this. They were very high, both in money and time. I put the request to one side.
About a week ago the NCC contacted me saying they'd been approached by two of our customers asking about Escrow agreements. The NCC offered to waive their fees to us if six customers joined the scheme. They also offered to find out how many of our customers would be interested.
This is where naivety and laziness stepped in, for which I now apologise. I allowed them to ask if you'd be interested. I have since discovered that their 'asking' is an aggressive sales pitch and I have told them to stop. Please report any future contact to me so I can take appropriate action.
I can confirm that we have no plans, either now or in the foreseeable future, to sell-up. Nor have we any plans to stop supporting and developing the Match-IT software.
Regards,
Dave Nichols
