197: Dropping Windows 95/98/Me/NT compatibility
Dave Nichols, 28/01/2008

It is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain backwards compatibility of Match-IT with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me and Windows NT (both workstation and server). Microsoft no longer support these versions and maintaining backwards compatibility with them is preventing us from exploiting useful new Windows technologies.

We would like to know if any of you are still actively using any of these old Windows versions with Match-IT. If you are, and do not intend to upgrade, please let us know immediately. If you are not using them, or intend to upgrade, you need do nothing.

If nobody is using them, we will drop all backwards compatibility considerations for build 21.3.10 and above.

IMPORTANT

If you say nothing, we will assume you have no objection to us dropping support for these old Windows versions. This would mean from build 21.3.10 and above, Match-IT will not run on them.

Build 21.3.9 is about to be released and we'd expect build 21.3.10 to be released approximately 3 months later. So you've got until April 2008 to upgrade to a newer Windows version.
