200: Possible change in VAT rates
Colin Horne, 24/11/2008

With the possibility of a change in VAT rates being made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer it is worth reminding ourselves how to set the nominal VAT rate used within Match-IT.

Firstly, DO NOT modify the existing code specifying the 17.5% rate - this would effect earlier invoices as well as future ones.

There are several ways to create new VAT codes. The method described in this note is to navigate to where the default VAT code is defined, from there create the new version and, when required, to set it as the new system default value.

Follow the following instructions:

1. Press F4 to show system defaults

2. Set "Show all classes" (if not already set)

3. Navigate to the CS default "VAT Code"

4. This default contains the normal VAT code used by all Customers/Suppliers unless this is overridden on an individual basis.

5. Press the "System Value" button at the top right of the browse.

6. Press the "..." next to the System Value on the form.

7. Setup a new code specifying the new VAT rate.

If the VAT change does not come into force immediately, then close out of the defaults system.

8. When the new VAT rate comes into force, change the system default to the newly created code.
