97: Handling unders and losses on a sales lines
Dave Nichols, 29/06/2003

This is a preliminary announcement for a new feature that will be available in build 21.1.42 when it's released.

There are two extra quantities that may be put in a sales line. These can be used to specify how to handle not achieving the ordered quantity (unders), and how to deal with expected manufacturing losses (losses).

Handling of unders is specified by the Accept Quantity. If you specify this quantity and it's less than the ordered quantity, Match-IT will consider the order to be complete when at least this much has been dispatched.

Handling of losses is specified by the Demand Quantity. If you specify this quantity and it's more than the ordered quantity, Match-IT will plan for this higher quantity, suggesting POs, WOs and allocating extra stock as necessary. Whatever you actually achieve up to this quantity will be dispatched.

The Demand Quantity is useful for those situations where the usual reject rate mechanisms are not adequate, when doing a prototype for example.
